The next thing I did was read a story about.. well;
Tim Timmons once was a stalwart in the Church of Christ, a conservative Republican, a buttoned-down insurance executive with a busy life, a wife and three children. Slowly but surely, multiple sclerosis robbed him of that life.
Tim Timmons, who suffers from multiple sclerosis, advocates for the legal use of medical marijuana. A Dallas resident, he smokes daily despite Texas not permitting the use of medical marijuana. Today, at age 54, Timmons is mostly bedridden and rarely sees the outside of his Garland home. What he lacks in physical ability, however, he more than makes up for with his ardent support for legalizing marijuana for seriously ill people.
The story has the usual right-wing "slippery slope" arguments from christian whack-jobs, fretting that if medical marijuana is legalized in Texas.. then Texas will end up just like California.
There is a reason why San Francisco is a world class city - and there is nothing that even remotely compares in Texas - and no, Austin doesn't count either.
What is ironic is the MS guy would be the one decrying the use of medical marijuana if he were healthy and a member of the Texas state legislature. That's how everything in Texas works. You can be fundamentally insane on every issue - until it's you that is affected. Then, all of a sudden, everything changes.
This is, of course, because the thinking process of the religious whack-a-loons is fundamentally flawed, and it will never recognize the paradox of the very real evil that is inherent in it's philosophy.
More than that.. states like Texas bask in it's ignorance.. and by the way.. Texas now has the lowest performing public education system in the nation. They like it that way. They like being being hateful, bigoted, judgemental bitches. They like being clinically insane - and encourage everyone else to join in the crazy.
This will not change.
