Asshat Quote of the Day

Sky Dive Rick said...
If you read (the bible) carefully, man has been here for 6,000 years, but that does not necessarily mean that the universe or Earth itself has been here for that period.
Here, Rick repeats a weird argument that "man" dates back.. 6000 years in Earth's history. Doug has made that same argument, as he considers himself a "bible literalist".

And then he expects that rational human beings could take anything he says seriously.. or not out-right laugh at him.

These are people who makes social and political arguments that they expect to be taken seriously.. when the very foundation of their being is based on the most absurd suppositions.

The question then becomes.. what if it is proven to you, Rick, Doug, Random Loon, that mankind dates back far more than 6000 years? I'm not even talking about pre-human ancestors or any form of human evolution. What if it was proven to you, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that Homo sapiens sapiens(modern man) date back more than 100,000 years? What would be the significance of that to you?

Would you throw out your entire religious belief because one of the fundamental principles turns out to be completely false? Would you simply reform your religious belief to account for the truth, i.e. rationalize it?

There really is no debate about the truth of the age of modern humans.
