The Last Honest Men

Lieberman June 22, 2006;

Mr. President, I personally hope, as I am sure all members of the Senate do, and I believe, that we will be able to withdraw a significant number of our men and women in uniform from Iraq by the end of this year and even more by next year. And I express that optimism based on the election and formation of the new Iraqi unity government, the increasing capacity of the Iraqi security forces to protect their own people, and the commitment of the new government to disarm the sectarian militias.
Liberman now;

During Gen. David Petraeus' hearing before the Senate Armed Services Committee today, Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) took time out to "make a plea to [his] colleagues in the Senate" to "put the brakes" on the gathering bipartisan momentum for a nonbinding resolution condemning the president's plan to increase troops in Iraq.

The Senate should "step back for a moment and give you [Gen. Petraeus] a chance…. Perhaps a last chance, to succeeed in Iraq," Lieberman said. "If God forbid, you are unable to succeed, then there will be plenty of time for the resolutions of disapproval or the other alternatives that have been contemplated."
McCain 2 days ago;

I think this is our last chance.
...
And that’s why I think that this is our chance now, our last chance, to, to have a new strategy which will give us a chance to prevail.
Everyone who wants to be a dead American soldier for Lieberman and McCain's "last chance" raise your hand. Anyone?

Anyone?

Anybody married with kids want to create a few orphans?

Anybody want to get buried by their parents?

Anybody who enjoys hanging out with friends.. having a beer at a local watering hole.. who like wasiting time playing video games? Care to get blown apart by an IED for the last chance? It might not be fatal.. but you may not have any hands to play video games with anymore.

How about any of you comfy 20 year olds? Care to die before we finally say the last chance didn't work, and get the fuck out?

McCain being the opposite of clear, concise, and to the point here.

And after sticking his head up Bush's ass for 5 years, today we finally get;

"The president listened too much to the Vice President ... Of course, the president bears the ultimate responsibility, but he was very badly served by both the Vice President and, most of all, the Secretary of Defense ... Rumsfeld will go down in history, along with McNamara, as one of the worst secretaries of defense in history."
Which of course comes when 70% of Americans thinks the war sucks ass. What a maverick.

More clear McCain conciseness here:

Maverick McCain being to the point, in 1990.

We cannot even contemplate, in my view, trading American blood for Iraqi blood.
I could do this shit all day.. but other's do.. You just need to read a bit.

And then of course.. there's this;

NEW YORK A new Gallup poll taken this past weekend shows that support for President Bush's troop escalation did not gain any ground, despite an all-out White House publicity push (it remains stuck at 38% approval). The survey also revealed majority support for a congressonal resolution opposing the "surge" -- and a U.S. pullout within a year.

Support for such a resolution is strong, with 61% backing that. Asked if congress should try to block the deployments, such as by denying funding, a still significant 47% back that action, with 50% opposing it.

A total of 56% want a quick pullout -- with 19% advocating "immediately" and another 37% in a year's time. Only 13% say "send more troops."

"Americans remain unconvinced that it is necessary to send new troops to Iraq to gain victory, as Bush argued, and a majority favors withdrawal of troops within one year," Gallup reports. "Most Americans continue to say the costs of the war outweigh the benefits of succeeding in Iraq, and a majority of Americans also continue to say it was a mistake to send troops to Iraq initially."
Too many people treat this shit as a mental exercise and verbal debating contest. Its' not. A lot of people are dying and being severely injured every single day.

What the fuck is wrong with some of you people? Jesus fucking christ..

I know you're not dumb, so you must be getting payed to be retarded.

We went in there for the wrong reasons. There are no nukes, there were no terrorists, and there was no iminent threat to national security.

However, last I checked, we arn't fighting the war when it started.

Now, every terrorist group and it's dog is there. Now, it is a cornerstone.

I actually go to go listen to a Proffessor Emeritus at a local college who teaches Farsi at a college here in town speak on this subject. He's a Fullbright Scholar, because I know you love argueing credentials and not argueing points.

He said that if the US were to pull out right now, Iran would invade Iraq within 2 weeks.

You wanna talk about death tolls? You wanna talk about civilian casualties? Please, preach more from the pulpit oh Kettle. How the fuck do propose to solve that?

You post all this about how the civilian death tool is high. Now, imagine if Iraq, lead by Shiite Muslim clerics invades Sunni Iraq. The Ayatollahs have codemned the Sunnis as heretics and barbarians.

So, I want one answer from you. You point out the problems in Iraq, now what is the solution, and why is that the solution?
