The political winds

My most recent pick for the '08 nomiation was Russ Feingold. I'm going to modify that to demote Feingold to VP, and pick Al Gore as my favorite. He has simply been amazing the last 5 years, and his speeches brilliant.

In fact, President Clinton is polling better today than Bush, by a margin of 2 to 1. Clinton was impeached for god's sake and he's polling better than the current president. Americans know they elected Gore in 2000, and combined with the nostalgia for Clinton, I think Gore wins easy next time around as long as he doesn't try to tone down his demeanor. There's no better way to make up for that mistake in 2000 then to do the right thing in 2008.

For a taste of what could have been, click here:

In a stroke of coincidence, Scott Adams has posted his prediction today;

Hilary Clinton – Too divisive

John McCain – Too ugly

Colin Powell – Too smart to run

Al Gore – Too charisma challenged

Jeb Bush – Too soon

Joseph Lieberman – Too whiney sounding

Wesley Clark – Too tiny looking on TV

Howard Dean – Too crazy

John Edwards – Too goofy

Almost everyone else is too lightweight and/or too unknown. That leaves us with one candidate that can win: Joseph Biden.
On the mark on some, off on others. Al Gore certainly knows he lost in 2000 due to his wooden personality.
