Quote of the Day III

You don't have to be straight to shoot straight. - Barry Goldwater
You ever wonder what happened to Goldwater Republicans?

There was a period in American history where there were few differences in political opinion between Democrats and Republicans. There were honest disagreements about fundamental policy, but today we have a Republican party that didn't just shift to the right, it has completely abandoned the traditional Republican principals in favor of this really weird quasi-Christian theocratic government, bent on neocon style world domination, and soviet style central control.

The sad part in all of this is that it appears that the Goldwater Republicans didn't come into the Democratic fold, which is more aligned with their political points of view, but rather just closed their eyes and got dragged off to the land of the blue meanies.

All that's left of that identity is John McCain, and his failure has led to this point. The new Republican's would rather lose the White House to a Democrat then let McCain revive the Goldwater movement. McCain is a bigger threat to them than Hillary. After all, if McCain demonstrated that you could govern without wars, violence, hatred and God, the theocrats could be finished forever.

I rarely, actually I haven't ever, post 3 quote of the day in a single day.. but whatever...
