Are They Ready For Some Football?

Pic from the game where Miles Austin came out of nowhere to become one of the top receivers in the NFL. I had predicted long before that Austin would turn out to be a top player. It wasn't terribly difficult to do, but just goes to show that the coaches aren't doing something right when a guy rides the pine for 3 years and then gets a chance and turns out to be a top player. If I was the owner, I'd be pissed off that he wasn't developed sooner.

Anyway.. around this time last year, I was predicting the Cowboys would win the Super Bowl in the 10/11 season. Most times, teams stacked with talent perform like it. Sometimes, all the talent in the world can't make up for basic stupidity.

It's strange the way that all the pre-season hype is missing this year due to the lock-out. The NFL is really the only sports I watch regularly anymore, because I'm just not in front of the teevee all that much. The whole labor situation is just a silly kabuki dance really.. kinda like the politics in D.C. at the moment.

You can tell a player isn't that used to running a ball in for a touchdown when he's looking at himself on the giant monitor in the stands. Usually, that's when the defensive back comes up from behind and punches the ball out.
