Asshat Quote of the Day

"The President does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation" -- candidate Barack Obama, December, 2007

He left out the part where there is an exception if the UN sez so. At least, according to really stupid people.

Hmmm.. I wonder who argued that the UN could send the US to war on this humble blog? Because, you know, the UN trumps the United States Constitution.

I'm kinda disappointed he's not leaving really vapid an inane comments here anymore. It's kinda like if Doug stopped blogging. That would suck.

....

And if you're interested, and I'm guessing you are not, an article in the NY Times about Congress specifically crafting legislation that would allow the President to launch a war at any time, and any reason of his or her choosing.

It's pretty much 180 degrees from the original intent of the executive branch. Not many Americans give a shit.

I would just prefer there be a draft of everyone aged 18-30 and send them off for at least one combat tour of Afghanistan or Iraq. I mean every single man and woman in that age range.. off to combat, even if you're completely opposed to the wars. No exceptions for any reason.

It would be nice if somebody would finally impeach Obama, but that's not going to happen.
