It's All My Fault

Greenwald on the ever necessary blaming of the Dirty Fucking Hippies.

What seems odd to me is that running on popular policies would seem like a good idea, and if you look at the vast majority of polling data, most Americans are Liberals. It's that simple.

There is some weird force that is making all the pundits and Democratic candidate essentially do what is not in their best interest. Obama won his election by basically being a Hippy - and then completely abandoned that and now the Democrats lost the House of Representatives.

The pundits are convinced that the hippies are to blame.. rather than the really shitty economy and bullshit wars, and bad policy from the Democrats.

Of course, there's nothing that's going to change that meme. Hippies will always be the easy punching bag, even though fully half of the "blue dog" Democrats lost their seats (which is a good thing) - and now the Republicans want to repeal the health care reform? Sure.. why not.

Because I can never get my way, we're not going to get the revolution inspiring destruction of our society that is needed to restore some sensible government. This government is going to be bad, very bad, but it's not going to destroy Social Security and Medicare.. it's not going to escalate the wars and start new and more awesomer wars in Iran. It's not going to implement at a draft. It's not going to lead to much higher unemployment and inflation.

What we're going to get is the very worst possible government possible. It'll be death by a thousand conservative cuts instead of the giant sledgehammer of the tea bagging lunatics.

I'll bet Democrats even gain back about 40 seats in the House in the next election. That'll be terrible, combined with Obama narrowly winning re-election. Old people, living in public parks, surviving on cat food, do not make very good revolutionaries.
