I'll Take Morons for $1000

So.. just knew it would be amusing to see Doug's reaction to the HCR bill passing. You'd just know it would have to be some whacked out fringe lunacy, right? Right.

The Republicans will no doubt run on repealing this in November, but won't be able to do much about it until they gain a large enough majority, and have a Republican President to sign such legislation. In the meantime, many expect the courts to be called upon to determine if this legislation is Constitutional.

Even if the Supreme Court determines the unconstitutionality of this legislation, it will stay on the books until it can be repealed legislatively.

This is the same dumbass that claimed a few days ago that the Supreme Court has no jurisdiction reviewing Congressional legislation. Only the "American people" can do that.

.. and (according to Doug) even if the court does review it and find it is unconstitutional, that would not invalidate the legislation.. which, you know, is the whole point of judicial review.

....

It's amusing how Doug likes to send me emails accusing me of being narcissistic.. while at the same time writing posts focused on how smart he thinks he is.

It's pretty amusing, this insecurity on constant display with him. Generally speaking, people who are actually pretty bright don't feel much need to tell everyone else how bright they are.

The same reasoning applies to Doug's frequent posting about Teh Gay...

Do you remember where you got the 51% of healthcare being paid for by the government cite? Having an argument with a friend and can't seem to find it.

Did I say it was 51%? I might have.. not sure. I couldn't find the original post about it, but found a report at

http://truecostblog.com/tag/us-healthcare-costs/

Medicare, Medicaid, and other direct government healthcare accounts for 46% of healthcare spending, while tax breaks on healthcare subsidize another 10-15% of healthcare spending [1].

I could have sworn it was 48%, with a percentage or 2 more added for VA and DoD health care. Then you add on the federal employees... law enforcement.. spies.. secretaries.. shit like that, plus tax subsidies.

I read that private insurance pays ~35% and the balance is uninsured.

Oh, here we go. These guys added it all up.. and total care paid for by gov dollars is 60.5%. I never added in the tax subsidies because it doesn't seem like fed money to me. In any case, it's about half.

That's a group with an agenda.. obviously. I can put my kung fu google skills to work to try and find some official government data.

Yeah, that'll work. Even without the subsidies, converting 52% of the healthcare to government care won't suddenly ruin the system.

Unfricking believeable...NEW YORK – On the heels of health care, a new Harris poll reveals Republican attitudes about Obama: Two-thirds think he's a socialist, 57 percent a Muslim—and 24 percent say "he may be the Antichrist."
