Maine

The same-sex marriage law was over-turned yesterday by a rather narrow margin. It still seems odd to me that the issue is put to a popular vote.

Inter-racial marriage was never put to a vote. It wouldn't have passed in a large number of states if it had. The Supreme Court shoved it down their throats.

There is a lesson in that. This isn't a pure Democracy, and civil rights aren't subject to popular opinion.

The problem is that there are a majority of loons on the court right now. The moment that changes, you'll see a federal lawsuit.. but only when the outcome is assured.
