SAN FRANCISCO – Gay marriage opponents pulled off another victory at the ballot box this week by using a tried-and-tested argument: Approve it and children will be taught homosexuality in school.

Voters seemed to be swayed by the message, both in Maine and in last year's gay marriage battle in California. And it has become an important part of the ever-evolving playbook of gay marriage opponents, who have now won 31 consecutive ballot measures against the issue.

In each state, voters were besieged with ad images of what would supposedly happen if same-sex marriage were legal: students going on a field trip to a lesbian wedding, elementary school kids reading books featuring gay couples, kindergartners learning about homosexuality from their teachers — all without any say from parents.

It does go without saying that religious loons have no real ethics, and lying simply comes naturally to them. Their entire world view is based on a lie, so it's not a stretch to lie for political gain.

I do take a certain amount of pleasure in knowing that the people that are that worked up about Teh Gay lead a very unhappy existence. I wish them nothing but pain and misery, but to be that psychotic about something that has absolutely nothing to do with them is merely a symptom of an underlying misery. They want to strike out at any target.. and gay people is a good one for them. They can rationalize their evil via the religious nutbaggery, while claiming they "love" the sinner.

But again.. I really don't give a fuck what the vote count is. Civil rights are never dependent on the will of the majority because a majority of people are stupid as fuck assholes who really shouldn't be involved in other people's decisions regardless.

National same-sex marriage is coming.. and it'll be as much an after thought as it is in the rest of the western democracies where it's currently legal. In the meantime, I will savior the pain and suffering of these people at every opportunity.
