Landslide is hardly the right word and McCain would have lost by a greater amount if not for Palin. McCain is a joke and not even a real conservative.

The electoral vote total was Obama 365, and McCain 173. The not-crazy people consider that a land-slide.
It's speculative, at best, what would have happened if McCain had picked someone better known, with a real track record and an actual intellect to back it up. I happen to have the opinion that he probably would have done better, but still ultimately lose.

McCain might not be a "real conservative" to you.. but you're just not understanding that what you consider a "real conservative" has basically zero chance to win a national election.

Personally.. I don't think badly of convicted felons as a standard. Everyone fucks up at some point, and putting it behind them and trying to get it right the next time is what is important.
