Hitchens vs. Loon

As a reminder.. the Loon Brigade are completely incapable of understanding Hitchens' point. The rest of us understand it as obvious. There is a divide there that cannot be bridged. It's impossible.

The reason is obvious... Doug told us yesterday. They are in such fear of death being the end that the absolutely cannot allow any doubt to creep in about a completely made up thing that they've totally invested themselves in.

And they think that investment is not only a virtue.. but absolutely vital to everything they care about.

That's what we're up against. It's the exact same thought process with the religious lunatics in the Muslim nations. The Loon Brigade can't even see the parallels.

The videos are actually audio only, of Hitchens completely beating up a Loon on a radio program. The guy does the "what if" routine that the Loons love to use. When I was on Doug's show a few weeks back debating evolution with the crazy creationist Ray Comfort, he did the exact same routine with me.

The way it works, is that the Loon sets up a hypothetical situation that is complete nonsense from the outset, then asks questions that he thinks will lead to him making his point about Jesus. Hitchens' does not play by his rules, and attacks the question as absurd, rather than simply answering every one.

Some of you might like it.. some bored because it's a rehash of the same shit we've seen a billion times.. but I got a laugh out of it.

I just cannot wrap my head around how anyone could listen to it and not understand what Hitchens' is saying. The Loon Brigade won't.. but I'm really interested in the mental mechanics that has to happen for them to be able to think that way. The psychology of it is interesting.

I'm not a huge fan of Hitchens' politics. I agree on some points, disagree on others, but he's absolutely fantastic about religious issues. Of all the people I'd like to hang out with and have drinks, Hitchens would be towards the top of the list.
