Interesting article I read today about computer hackers that fixed a Time.com poll.
There's this semi-coherent group of computer geeks that spend their time trying to figure out how to manipulate things. It's sort of a deep underground group of very smart people with an anarchist bent.
As one of the hackers said of why he did it, "For the lulz".
I read a report recently about some danger of a "cyber attack" on the American electrical grid. I have no doubt that these people could pull off that sort of thing if they really wanted to.
Wouldn't it make a good movie? You know.. a growing army of underground anonymous individuals that collectively work on controlling just about anything, without any real organization? On the other side is the government agents trying pull the plug on the "terrorists", but not really ever knowing where the plug actually is.
I've never seen an adversarial movie where the antagonist didn't have a face... In this case, the antagonist would be anonymous.. making demands.. and threats.. and never the same person behind the message, because it's actually a growing army of former slaves to the system that are breaking down all the structures of society..
Hmm.. could be cool.

Originally an organization designed to "take out" the church of scientology. Held a lot of protests and caused a lot of media hype in 2008. Apparently the cut of the access to the scientology homepage for 3 days in 2008 using denial of service attacks.
