Just Say No

I'm not a fan of Tom Daschle, Obama's pick for Health and Human Services. Now he's got some of those "tax issues".

There must be a nice cost/benefit ratio to working in the Federal Government. Typically, wealthy people can hide a lot of money from the IRS and it goes unnoticed. When being vetted for a high level job for the Fed, you're going to get caught. That much is obvious.

But why take the job? It doesn't pay that much, comparatively speaking, and lobbying will earn much more, which is what Daschle's wife does. Is the calculation such that once you complete your term in government, you'll earn even more money?

That must be it.

Ultimately, Daschle is a beltway pick, and he'll get Republican support because he's a health insurance toadie. I highly doubt much will get done with health care while Daschle is around.

He really doesn't give a flying fuck about it. He's just using the job as a tool.
