In one those, I knew it was coming moments.. Doug recommends everyone go see the ID "film", Expelled..
You can go read the Wiki, if you have any interest. I find it highly amusing that one of the targets of the "film" was Expelled from attending a screening... har
Many scenes are centered around the Berlin Wall, and Ben Stein being Jewish actually visits many death camps and death showers. In fact, Nazi Germany is the thread that ties everything in the movie together. Evolution leads to atheism leads to eugenics leads to Holocaust and Nazi Germany.Uh.. huh.. kk
The bottom line is that you're either a science denying freak or you are not. Doug thinks that mankind dates back 6000 years.. so it's not a surprise that he approves.. but at some point, you just have to say that these people are just fucking insane and be done with it.
I just can't wrap my head around why they want to be that crazy.. unless it's just a cog in the support of organized religion and the money and power that go along with it... but this sense of victimization they have is just bizarre.
"Being a religious scientist is perfectly normal and acceptable, but scientists are supposed to be able to separate science from non-science, and good research from bad. Academic freedom protects a scientist's ability to do science, not to pass off a political or religious crusade as science."It's the same bullshit from these people over and over... not being content to be in-fucking-sane.. they need everyone else to be just as fucking stupid. No thanks.. fuck off.
If you do shitty science.. write shitty papers.. if you're basing your methods or results on some religion.. then expect to get fucking fired. You don't get a pass just because you're a freak.
There are places for pushing made up bullshit.. it's called a church.. all you fuckers are more than welcome to do it there.. but NOT in fucking institutions of science.
And.. as you'd expect from the Loon Brigade.. there's all sorts of bullshit claims. It's easy to completely debunk Expelled.. again.. only if you really give a shit to even give the premise the slightest bit of credibility at the outset.
Anyway, no matter how the lawyers dance, one thing is clear: the makers of Expelled have been paragons of ethical dubiety, doing their best to skirt the edges of the law and sneak as much doubtful, dishonestly obtained content into their little propaganda movie as they can. I guess they had to skimp on the budget for the actual content of the movie to scrape together a very large advertising budget — it's as if their movie is a metaphor for all of Intelligent Design creationism. - PZ Myers
