To Be Human

I often think that most people have forgotten what it means to be human. Doug often says the nation is going to hell in a hand basket, but that's usually in reference to homos actually being treated with dignity. The nation isn't going to hell, the nation, and much of humanity, is gripped by fear.

I think the ultimate result of the Conservative movement.. the Bushies.. the Religious Freak Brigade.. has been the destruction of the soul of humanity.. in it's culture and arts.

Ultimately this will be decided by a younger generation.. and I think that any damage the right wing could do is temporary, because there will always be new young human beings... and that's where the innovation comes.

I think it's pretty universally understood that by the time you hit 40, you have nothing new. I suppose that true. It's depressing for those over 40, but Mozart did not hit his peak post 40, he was much younger at his prime.. I don't know any artist that did, though like anything, I'm sure there are exceptions.

At some point.. the hate will dissipate... the wars will end.. religion will die.. and some young man or woman will sit down in front of a musical instrument and create the new generation's brilliant composition. There will be a new painter.. and new sculptor.. and artists in a medium I can even imagine.. because I'm over 40..

.. and slowly.. but surely.. the voice of the freaks that preach the end of days will become nothing but a snicker of a footnote in a dark age of humanity..
