Asshat Quote of the Day

"I guess it's OK with me."
Chimpy, on being told of the educational nature of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's visit to Columbia University.

Thank Gorak that President Bush allowed a foreign head of state to speak to college students. As Commander of the Grand Codpiece, the President is the sole arbiter of who is allowed to speak.

"We're here today to send a message that there is never a reason to give a hatemonger an open stage," New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn said.
Freedom of speech, means the freedom to hate as well. This country is nothing if it suppresses even the dumbest idiots from speaking their mind.

That doesn't mean there are no consequences for what somebody says.. just that they are more than welcome to say it. It's unfortunate that other-wise well meaning people don't seem to understand that they don't get to be the judge of what can be spoken, and what cannot.

And just for the record.. I think that Ahmadinejad's record of human rights abuses is appalling, and if the World Court wants to bring him up on charges, then by all means.. go for it.

/update

Bonus Asshat Quote from one of Doug's Loon Brigade.

There couldn't be anything worse than Liberalism. You Liberals rate right up there with Nazis, Pol Pot, Fascism, Joseph Stalin's Communism, Klu Klux Klan.
And then they call me the hate monger.

They really are crazy as fuck.

I think it does a better job of putting Bush's response into context...hint hint...and I like what Obama said. I think it's the most appropriate response.

I also think McCain is an idiot. I don't even know if he knows wtf he's doing anymore.
