Chimpeach

God I love Doug's blog. It makes this shit so easy.

Now, an acquaintance of mine posted this explanation of what would happen if The Left decided to listen to the Far Left and actually attempt to impeach President Bush (this is not my writing, but "Brendan's" and I don't have a blog to attribute it to, so this will have to suffice:

A failed impeachment will see a massive swing back to the GOP, as the Democrats are seen as pursuing a useless, baseless, and vindictive agenda.

With no proof, no charges, nothing of substance and nothing more than a hatred of the President, the process will be seen as an abuse of power by the so called Democratic base"Blue dog " Dems will revolt, the GOP will UNITE to slam the process closed before it even leaves the House, the "articles" will fail more than fifty percent of the votes needed to proceed to the Senate. The Democrats will be seen as trying to destabilise the government, and will be perceived as having lied to their constituents when they promised good government and more responsible leadership.
Except.. of course.. it's total horseshit, yet again.. not withstanding the incredible run-on sentence from hell.

Again, I will refer you to the arguments of Bruce Fein and John Nichols. Fein, of course, is a conservative constitutional scholar who drafted the articles of impeach against Bill Clinton, and who also claims it is vitally important that Congress proceed with impeachment.

Doug's "acquaintance" also doesn't seem to realize;

A public opinion poll from the American Research Group recently reported that more than four in ten Americans — 45% — favor impeachment hearings for President Bush and more than half — 54% — favored impeachment for Vice President Cheney.
The reason why Congress' approval ratings are low is that they are not doing enough to combat the shear horror of the Bush administration.

I would also like to point out, for our loon brigade friends.. that the violations of the constitution under the Bush administration will set precedent for the next president. Fein goes to great pains to point that out. Imagine the horror on the right when that president is Hillary Clinton, and she decides to wire tap without warrants, or suspend habeas corpus.

Don't fucking cry then, you loons. You will have enabled it.
