The Patriot Act is a "necessary inconvenience"? It wasn't necessary during WWI or WWII, where we faced a far more dangerous foe. In fact, America did NOT abandon Geneva Conventions during the most horrible war the world has ever witnessed.

actually, we did break the Geneva Conventions during WW2.
The imprisoning of the Japanese Americans and the Fire-bombing of eastern Germany, most specifically Dresdon, were against the Geneva Conventions.
PS: The actually think the only place natural fusion has ever taken place on earth was Dresdon. It got so hot their when we firebombed it, that it created natural fusion.
Also, there is that matter of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Both in blatant violation of the Geneva Convention.
I was referring specifically to torture.. but you might be right there. I'll have to do a bit of reading and see if those bombings were specifically addressed by the GC.
But I do think that the internment camps were not covered by GC. It addresses what you do with the enemy, and not your own citizens.
the point of the GC is not only the fair treatment of enemy combatants but also safe practices to minimize civilian loss.
We can't usher in the Second Coming. That will happen in God's timing, now ours. The primary reason for the War on Terror is to protect this nation against more attacks. It is just coincidental that Biblical Prophecy is playin out in these scenarios (or perhaps it is not coincidence - since God has his hand in it all). As mentioned before - Ezekiel 38-39 talks about in the end days Russia and Iran making an alliance together that hasn't happened in the 2500 years since the writings - and now it is coming true.
