Asshat Quote of the Day

The far left accuses the opters-out of being racist. Nah. They're just bored. And faintly embarrassed. - Andrew Sullivan
Sully's comment is in regard to the decline of participation in American "Gay Pride" parades.

I'm very liberal (obviously). In the 5 years I've lived in Dallas, I haven't been to a single pride parade. I didn't attend them when I lived in Phoenix either. The reason I skip them is because they are lame. It has nothing to do with gays "integrating" into the larger society, nor "racism" or "bigotry". It has everything to do with watching people marching with rainbow colored flags being pretty bad entertainment, but that's just me. Sullivan could have stopped there, but of course because he still has this weird disdain for the mysterious "far left" that he never really defines, he has to inject his own bigotry. He's "embarrassed" by the fems that march... simple as that.

I am certainly not "embarrassed" of them. It's not my thing, but more power to them.

Sullivan likes to assert, over and over, that gay people are just like straight people, except we have sex with members of our own gender. That's true of some gays, and not true of others. Some gays like to throw on high heels and an evening gown, then lip-synch to Diana Ross.. and so what? Who fucking cares? It doesn't "embarrass" me that some people like to do that, because I'm not defined by my orientation, and I'm not concerned that some idiots would lump me in with the less-than-butch sub-culture (as if that's a bad thing). That's their problem, not mine.

But while Sullivan attempts to claim he's just like a manly straight guy, it's a necessary reminder that he's HIV positive, meaning.. he had unprotected sex where somebody stuck their dick up his ass and had an orgasm. Then he has the gall to claim "embarrassment" about a gay pride parade? He's just upset that the nelly queen's aren't as manly as he is whilst getting buggered... as if straight society will suddenly think we're all "normal" if there are no more drag queens. I don't think that's ever going to happen.
