Cynical or delusional?

Prof. Krugman nails it again, here:

But Mr. Kristol and Mr. Kagan appealed to Mr. Bush’s ego, suggesting that he might yet be able to rescue his signature war. And am I the only person to notice that after all the Oedipal innuendo surrounding the Iraq Study Group — Daddy’s men coming in to fix Junior’s mess, etc. — Mr. Bush turned for advice to two other sons of famous and more successful fathers?

Not that Mr. Bush rejects all advice from elder statesmen. We now know that he has been talking to Henry Kissinger. But Mr. Kissinger is a kindred spirit. In remarks published after his death, Gerald Ford said of his secretary of state, “Henry in his mind never made a mistake, so whatever policies there were that he implemented, in retrospect he would defend.”

Oh, and Senator John McCain, the first major political figure to advocate a surge, is another man who can’t admit mistakes. Mr. McCain now says that he always knew that the conflict was “probably going to be long and hard and tough” — but back in 2002, before the Senate voted on the resolution authorizing the use of force, he declared that a war with Iraq would be “fairly easy.”

Mr. Bush is expected to announce his plan for escalation in the next few days. According to the BBC, the theme of his speech will be “sacrifice.” But sacrifice for what? Not for the national interest, which would be best served by withdrawing before the strain of the war breaks our ground forces. No, Iraq has become a quagmire of the vanities — a place where America is spending blood and treasure to protect the egos of men who won’t admit that they were wrong.
Then I see the Sullivan is linking, approvingly, to a new Time blog with 4 "high profile" pundits. As Sully sez;

My corporate overlords have created a new group blog for the revamped Time.com. It has four of the smartest Washington journalists I know working for it: Joe Klein, Karen Tumulty, Jay Carney and Ana Marie Cox. Check it out.
Joe Klein is a first rate idiot. Ana Marie Cox is the Wonkette chick. Smartest journalists, indeed. What a farce.

Joe Kline is a "liberal" pundit that does nothing but bash liberals, and he does it in spectacularly idiotic fashion. From his first post on his new blog;

The latest to make a fool of himself is Paul Krugman of the New York Times, who argues that those who favor the increase in troops are either cynical or delusional. Mostly the latter. Delusional neocons like Bill Kristol and Fred Kagan, to be precise. But what about retired General Jack Kean--whom Krugman doesn't mention--and the significant number of military intellectuals who have favored a labor-intensive counterinsurgency strategy in Baghdad for the past three years? They are serious people. They may be wrong about Iraq now, reflexively trying to complete a mission that has been lost, but they are not delusional.
Oh My God! They are "serious people" and we all know that "serious people" are to be taken seriously, as opposed to "fools" like Krugman.

Get this.. Krugman has been absolutely correct about everything from the very begining - and the "serious" people are seriously wrong all the time.. yet Krugman is the fool?

You cannot possibly be that fucking stupid Joe Kline. But, alas...

By the way, 22,950 Iraqis were killed in 2006. It's a damn good thing George Bush brought freeance and democracy to those dead human beings, isn't it?
