In the Connecticut U.S. Senate race, Ned Lamont (D) has surged ahead of Sen. Joe Lieberman (D-CT) and now holds a razor-thin 51% to 47% lead among likely Democratic primary voters, according to a new Quinnipiac poll.Lieberman is a long time Senator, Prez and VP candidate.. and he's going to get his ass kicked in the primary by a guy nobody has heard of until recently.
That's a strong measure of the political mood right now, and I'm really pleased by that. I've never liked Lieberan at all. He's simply a Republican with a -D after his name. As I've said before, this primary has huge implications for November. If Lieberman does loose the primary and runs as an independent, that's going to touch off a huge political shit storm on the left.
The really disapointing thing, however, is that Bill Clinton is going to Connecticut to stump for Lieberman. This, after Lieberman railed about Clintons affair on the floor of the Senate and his efforts to impeach him. Everyone knows I'm a big Bill Clinton fan, but this is all wrong. Clinton needs to be on Lamonts side. The Democrats have to change and embrace progressive politics or they will forever be losers.
Whatever happens, it's not going to be dull.
