The purpose of having three separate branches of the government is so that they can balance each other. No one branch of the government has more power than another. Hatch seems to think that the legislative branch should have or apparently does have more power than the judicial branch. And Steve wins the civics test.
Orrin Hatch seems to think the order of power in the federal government goes thus; Executive - Legislative - Judicial.
Keep in mind that he's one of the most tenured and powerful members of the federal government. He doesn't seem to know that the 3 branches of the federal government are co-equal. If Hatch doesn't want the Supreme Court to invalidate any of their legislation, it would help if their legislation didn't violate the Constitution of the United States of America.
As I like to reinforce the reality of political movements today, it would appear that Hatch's argument is the Republican/conservative position on what government means. They are out of step with the Constitution, and are actively working to subvert our system of government.
And they do it while calling the rest of us traitors. It simply boggles the imagination.
