I'm fine with Porkbusters, but it needs to be said again and again that pork is not our real problem. Middle-class entitlements are. If pork-obsession becomes a way of denying our real fiscal calamity, rather than addressing it, it will do more harm than good. From you-know-who, who makes me crazy.
What middle-class entitlements? I'm middle class, and I've got no entitlements. I pay in taxes every year what some people earn for the entire year. Is Sully talking about that 300 bucks that chimpy sent me a few summers ago? Is that the entitlement? Because I sure as hell get no break on anything. I get no disaster relief funds. I get no free medical coverage, or any sort of government benefit. I just consider the taxes I pay as the cost of doing business in the United States.
The whole ideal of "fiscal conservatism" is rediculous. The conservatives only care about one thing - making taxes on the very wealthy as low as possible, because that's all wealthy people care about. Sure, a lot of wealthy people worked hard to make a lot of money, and I totally understand not wanting to give it to the government. I get that. But, in terms of politics, that's ALL they care about. They don't give a shit about flag burning, or war, or gay marriage, or abortion, or any other topic of politics beside the bottom line - money. Everything else you see from the Republicans is just fluff.
