Quote of the Day

"[Bush] may get his way, but he won't get it this year. He may get it next year because the conservatives will be so angry at the Republican leadership - starting with the president, but the congressional Republicans also - that I'd be surprised if many, many don't stay home, turning the congress over to the Democrats. And, of course, the Democrats, next year, would give the president what he wants because then they'll be able to govern America for the rest of the 21st Century [with the support of former illegal aliens who had become newly-legalized voters]." - Richard Viguerie
The hard core conservatives are really unhappy with the chimpster over this whole immigration issue. Could he be right? One can only hope.

While we've had to endure the most heinous presidency this country has ever known, it might turn into colossal good fortune if it directs this country back to a saner, secular, progressive society.

What's all this fuss about immigration now anyway? Isn't there a war on? Isn't Osama still at large, planning to attack us again? Isn't there a gay marriage amendment that the Republicans can use to try and distract the nation with, rather than making Mexicans the new target to bash?

The mind boggles..

While I'm at it.. John at Americablog lists the most pressing issues that evangelical Christians care about.

- gay marriage
- immigration
- prayer in school
- obscenity/porn
- abortion

How many of those have to do with sex? 3 out of the 5. Christians obsess about sex. It's all they think about. But more to the point - aren't those issues the dumbest shit to be focusing on? Jesus Christ what a bunch of fucking dumbass people.

By the way.. Al Gore's movie is opening.. It's called "An Inconvenient Truth", and you should probably see it if you get a chance. It's about global warming and how hundreds of millions of people may die in a decade unless we reverse the trends. Of course it's all scientifically based, and the clips I've seen included what would happen if the sea were to rise due to glaciers melting.

So all of this discussion about politics may be a moot point if anarchy breaks out after mass flooding around the world.

Oh.. and as we like to compare and contrast.

Al Gore - concerned that we're ruining the ecosystem of the planet that could result in the deaths of hundreds of millions of people.

Christians - concerned that people are having sex.
