"The American people want to believe the president. I have relatives who I've tried to talk to about this who say, 'Well, no, you can't tell me the president had this information and just ignored it,'" says Drumheller. "But I think over time, people will look back on this and see this is going to be one of the great, I think, policy mistakes of all time." - Tyler Drumheller, CIA European ChiefThat quote is from the 60 Minutes broadcast last night. So, basically, what you have here is a very high up CIA official telling you that the President "fixed the intelligence" around the objective, as was described in the Downing Street memos.
Translation; they simply wanted to remove Saddam Hussein and they lied about WMD's to sell the war to the American public. Unfortunately, I think most Americans are too stupid to even care if they were lied into a war. The lesson you learn here is that the American public really won't care much about a war - so long as there is no draft. In their minds, they think they can simply "opt out", and not sign up for the military. Therefore, it does not affect them, and they really lack the empathy to give a shit about all the thousands of dead and dismembered Americans.
What do you do with the people who lied the United States into a war? Simple question.
