Barry Bonds is limping his way up the home run chart. What a travesty.. to be anywhere near Ruth and think he's going to pass him..
Bonds hit his second homer of the season Tuesday night in the San Francisco Giants' 4-1 loss to the New York Mets. The 41-year-old slugger, nursing a tender surgically repaired right knee and a swollen left elbow, grimaced noticeably as he limped around the bases after his homer.
With 710 homers, he trails only Hank Aaron (755) and Babe Ruth (714) on the career list.
Barry Bond's is a roided out freak and every mention of him should be wiped from the record books.

I still don't know how I feel about this one. I watched Barry running around the bases last night, and I saw a guy, old, out of shape, injured, struggling to knock out a few more.
I'm not without my own speculation as to what drugs he may or may not have done, but he has all the right to be perceived innocent until he fails a test or some other proof comes out.
If indeed he is innocent this should be one of the great moments of the sport and it will be a shame if he is and all this is just media hype, because noone is taking it seriously. However if he is indeed guilty and illegally transformed himself into a home run hitting machine then by all means, wipe the record books of his name.
Steve
If you are going to change the record books for Bonds "cheating", then you need to keep going and start wiping others' stats out. Canseco and Palmiero, obviously out. What about the pitchers that are roided up that Barry has had to hit against? Is being roided still an advantage when the opposition is too? How about the claims of some people - like Ken Caminiti - who claim that 50% of MLB is juiced up. Even if that number is only, say, 10% - do you strike all of those records down?
And where does it stop? What about hall of fame pitchers that were known for using a juiced ball. That is cheating just as much as steroids. Going to have to pull some people out of Cooperstown...
This whole steroid frenzy is retarded. No big uproar when it was Big Mac and Sammy Sosa knocking out homers. But because Bonds has such a crappy relationship with the media, they hammer on him and then everyone jumps on the bandwagon and wants to condemn him.
IF he is found guilty of anything, go through the normal channels of discipline (suspensions, followed by bannings for multiple offenses) - don't try and pull some stunt of wiping out his records or putting an asterisk by them.
Jesus Christ.. I write about the end of the world as we know it, and you can hear the crickets chirp.. but write about casual day at work, or steroids in baseball.. and ya'll flip out.. LOL
You know.. I don't have a fundamental problem with doping in sports. Lyle Alzado might disagree, assuming he wasn't already dead at 43 years old, at least partly a result of steroid abuse.
But, if you're going to do it, do it full out and above board.
The line has to be drawn though.. and Bonds has already admitted to using steriods, but he claims they were simply given to him and he didn't know what they were. That's laughable.
Really, all you need to do is look at the pictures of the athletes. Look at before and after pictures of players like Bonds, and Sosa, and McGuire.. it's obvious. They exploded.
The only reason people looked away is because they like heros.. pure and simple.. and you're right, people love to hate Bonds because he really is an asshole, so it's easier to "pick" on him. He deserves it..
There is no other activity in baseball that is so dependent on pure strength as hitting homeruns. Pitching is much more finese oriented, and while I'd imagine some pitchers cheated, it's certainly not as prevelant nor has as much effect as home run hitters juicing. Just look at the explosion in the numbers over the last 10 years. It's not a juiced ball, it's juiced players.
In my view.. erase their stats.. and that goes for all of them.. those that admit to it, and those where the evidence is overwhelming..
If I was pitching, I'd just throw at Bonds and put him on base. No way he'd get that HR to pass Babe Ruth off me.. not a chance in the world.
I thought it was funny that this one gets more replies too. So I went and wrote mean stuff on another post, lol.
If you start wiping stats, you are going to have to wipe the last 10 years. Sosa, Mac, Bonds, Canseco, Kaminiti, Palmeiro, Brady Anderson; probably Frank Thomas, Todd Helton, Jim Thome, Manny Ramirez, etc...
At least Bonds won't get to #1 - no way he lasts that long.
DING, 711.
Steve.
