Quote of the Day

"If it had been a 17-year-old white cheerleader who was caught in the water, somebody would have tried to get there faster," - Rae Clifton
Only the racist' would know if the response was affected by race. My personal belief is that the response was affected by severe mental shortcomings.

But, if there is a 17 year old white cheerleader on the roof of one house, and a black person on the other, for damn sure the cheerleader is getting rescued first.

It's almost subconscious the way that works. There are only 4 things that motivate human beings; money, love, hunger, and sex. Some people weight them differently than others. In the rescue of the 17 year old white cheerleader - it's all about sex.

I think people are also motivated by fame (although that falls in the love category in sort of a sick way, I guess). You know the media would follow the rescuing of the cheerleader waaaay before the rescuing of anyone but the cheerleader.

Race has everything to do with it.. and I'm as guilty as anybody else. I presumed that the rescuer is white, and therefore would rescue the cheerleader first.

To clarify, race continues to be an issue in this country. So does age, and beauty. It is what human beings tend to value - age, and looks, going back to what the sexual attractions are.

That is why the "white young woman in trouble" is quite the rage in the news all the time.

But, as I said, as far as this particular disaster goes, I think it was simple incompetence and not some nefarious plot to kill black people.

What if the scenario boiled down to a hot white cheerleader and a hot black cheerleader? That's the question of the day...

oh, my name is Justin and I approve of your blog.

This issue can go both ways. You guys have missed one important fact! That is, who is piloting the helicopter? If it is a black pilot, definitely the black person goes first and if it is a white pilot, it would be questionable! Would he choose white or go for the one in the most danger. Too often, we forget that this race issue swings both ways!
