"Unless the American people know that we will be good stewards of the nation's security, they're unlikely to trust us with anything else," said the two-term Indiana senator. "That's a very important threshold we have to get over." - Democratic Sen. Evan BayhThat's a really stupid thing to say. Bayh is essentially agreeing with the Republican talking point that Democrats are soft on terrorists. He seems to agree with the Republicans and thinks that somehow the Democrats need to do something different. What Evan? What do you suggest? Should Democrats promise that if we win the '08 Presidential election, we'll blow up Iran?
Didn't Bayh get the memo that says Bush's approval rating is 42% and his disapproval rating is over 50%? Doesn't he realize that that the American public is tired of the way the Republicans have screwed up this country, and all the Democrats need to do is NOT keep criticizing themselves?
Good god that's a stupid thing to say. I can see the Republican's replaying that that remark, with that manly voice over they always use saying, "The Democrats are not over that threshold".
What Bayh -should- have said was;
"The Republican's have mischaracterized the Democratic party to such a degree that some of the American public believes the Democrats are not serious about security."
Then follow up with;
"We'll work hard to correct that misconception".
Now.. that wasn't so hard, was it Evan? You retard....
