The survey found Bush's job approval rating at 45 percent, down seven points since January and the lowest ever recorded for the president in Post-ABC surveys. Fifty-three percent disapproved of the job Bush is doing.Worst President ever..
But what really got me was this quote...
"I supported him last year," said Gina Coleman, 29, a homemaker living in Camden County, N.J. "I wouldn't vote for him again. It's gas prices, the war -- just the way he has been handling things. The rise in gas is something that has been happening for a long time, and the prices are getting worse. This makes me feel more negative about him, definitely."Stupid.. stupid.. stupid... and somehow Gina Coleman, 29, homemaker, didn't know Bush sucked ass last year? God damnit..
You get what you fucking deserve..
** update **
Getting caught up on reading.. and I can't imagine a worse response to the complete devastation of a large American city then what our President has done, or isn't doing. So much of it is related to the disaster in Iraq.
Bush took an extra day of vacation before heading back to D.C.
He also took the money needed for handling these types of situations and diverted it to Iraq. Link:
...after 2003, the flow of federal dollars toward SELA dropped to a trickle. The Corps never tried to hide the fact that the spending pressures of the war in Iraq, as well as homeland security -- coming at the same time as federal tax cuts -- was the reason for the strain. At least nine articles in the Times-Picayune from 2004 and 2005 specifically cite the cost of Iraq as a reason for the lack of hurricane- and flood-control dollars.Bush got thousands of Americans killed in Iraq, 10's of thousands more Iraqis killed, and now hundreds of Americans are dying in New Orleans, with the Presidents budget policies screwing Americans at home.
Newhouse News Service, in an article posted late Tuesday night at The Times-Picayune web site, reported: "No one can say they didn't see it coming....Now in the wake of one of the worst storms ever, serious questions are being asked about the lack of preparation."
In early 2004, as the cost of the conflict in Iraq soared, President Bush proposed spending less than 20 percent of what the Corps said was needed for Lake Pontchartrain, according to a Feb. 16, 2004, article, in New Orleans CityBusiness.
On June 8, 2004, Walter Maestri, emergency management chief for Jefferson Parish, Louisiana; told the Times-Picayune: ÂIt appears that the money has been moved in the presidentÂs budget to handle homeland security and the war in Iraq, and I suppose thatÂs the price we pay. Nobody locally is happy that the levees canÂt be finished, and we are doing everything we can to make the case that this is a security issue for us.Â
But hey, how about those tax cuts, eh?
Fuck George Bush..

Holy fuck..
Mayor Nagin: Unhappy that the helicopters slated to drop 3,000-pound bags into the levee never showed up to stop the flow of water. Too many chiefs calling shots he says. They don't have enough military helicopters to both rescue people AND try and prevent flooding of the entire fucking city.
****ALL RESIDENTS ON THE EAST BANK OF ORLEANS AND JEFFERSON REMAINING IN THE METRO AREA ARE BEING TOLD TO EVACUATE AS EFFORTS TO SANDBAG THE LEVEE BREAK HAVE ENDED. THE PUMPS IN THAT AREA ARE EXPECTED TO FAIL SOON AND 9 FEET OF WATER IS EXPECTED IN THE ENTIRE EAST BANK. WITHIN THE NEXT 12-15 HOURS****** update 3 **
America blog has a nice roundup of Bush failures related to this disaster. I'll post a few..
-- President Bush staying on vacation when EVERYONE knew a massive hurricane was getting ready to strike
-- President Bush flogging politics AFTER the hurricane destroyed New Orleans and Biloxi; the President joshing with McCain over birthday cake while the waters were rising
-- President Bush's father sending 25,000 troops after Hurricane Andrew. Either his dad was WASTING time and money or W is falling far short of his father. Again.
-- President Bush pushing a joke of an energy bill that did NOTHING to decrease our dependence on foreign oil, nothing significant to develop alternative fuels and nothing to strengthen our infrastructure. Now we can see how vulnerable it is since one storm is impacting our nation's ability to refine oil.
-- President Bush going back to Texas for another night of vacation instead of going straight to the White House AFTER the disaster struck.
--President Bush jamming on the guitar while the disaster worsens.
-- President Bush finally, grudgingly ending his vacation two days early and going back to DC. If he can stay in touch in Texas, why go back, as John says? If he needs to be back in DC, what the hell took so long?
-- President Bush's backdoor draft that abused the compact between the country and the brave men and women who volunteered for the National Guard and Army Reserve has damaged them for decades to come. Many fewer people leaving the Army are going to volunteer for these groups in the future. And this natural disaster reminds us all of how vital they are.
