Continuing on with the Chimpy finger extension from yesterday, the press asked the press secretary about it today..

Q Scott, last night on the Tonight Show, Jay Leno, who apparently is subbing for Johnnie, displayed a video of the President at the Capitol yesterday. In that video, the President walking away from the press lifts his hand and raises a finger. Mr. Leno interpreted it as, shall we say, a finger of hostility. Each of our fingers has a special purpose and meaning in life. (Laughter.) Can you tell us what finger it was he held up?

MR. McCLELLAN: Ken, I'm not even going to dignify that with much of a response. But if someone is misportraying something, that's unfortunate.

Q Well, it was not a finger of hostility?

MR. McCLELLAN: Ken, I was there with him, and I'm just not going to -- I'm not going to dignify that with a response. I mean, I haven't seen the video that you're talking about, but I know the way the President acts. And if someone is misportraying it, that's unfortunate.

The "I'm not going to dignify that with a response" means, "yes, he told you to go fuck yourselves Cheney style".

Talk about your non-denial denials. The answer, Scott, was "no, that was not the finger of hostility".

But Scotty (the hottie) knows the way the President acts? Well, he acts like this..



That's a still from a video when Chimpy was governor of the fine *cough* state of Texas. He was a little irritated with a local reporter, and thought he would express himself via body language.

The White House actually called John at Americablog last night and told John that Bush was giving the "thumbs up" sign after getting CAFTA passed.

Look at the picture again...



Notice how Chimpy's fist his horizontal.. and the knuckles are horizontal as well. Try this at home.. give a thumbs up, but keep your knuckles horizontal. Notice your thumb sticks out to the side. Now, keeping your knuckles horizontal (just like the picture) try and get your thumb to go straight up.. it just barely peeks over your knuckles, right?

Chimpy would have to have a 9 inch thumb to be able to pull off what's shown in the photo. Dick Cheney might be able to do that, coz we know he has certain anatomical gifts, shall we say.. but Chimpy? No.. I think he's just saying "fuck you bitches, I got elected again anyway."

This isn't as big a deal as say, the Presidential debates where Chimpy was wired to channel Karl Rove.. it's just funny to see the Chimp-in-Chief giving the 1 finger salute, and the White House flackies lying about it..

Okay.. well, I take back the take back of the take back. It's possible he's giving the thumbs up. I'm just sitting here with my hand in a fist with thumb up rotating it around to see if I could get it to match Chimpy's position - and I was able to do that by not having the arm parallel to my body, but rather thumb closest to me and fist tilted forward. Plus there was this update from the site that is hosting the video:

update: John Godfrey (Dow Jones Newswire) writes, "I was in the scrum of reporters at the event. Bush did not flip anyone off. He was clearly giving a thumbs up in response to a question shouted from the crowd." I called John to verify the email was from him and to ask him if there was any doubt in his mind, he said there was not. I forgot to ask him if he's sighted.

Now, I'm not saying he's not flipping anybody off, I'm just saying it's possible he didn't. I still can't get the thumbs up to match the picture quite right though.

We need to study this like the Zapruder film. I'll do a reenactment and play Chimpy. We'll call it the magic finger theory.

Thank god nobody noticed me sitting here with my balled up first in front of me, starring at it like I just dropped a bunch of acid.
