TORONTO - Canada became the fourth country in the world to legalize gay marriage nationwide after a landmark bill was signed into law on Wednesday. And the world keeps on turning, and there were no plagues of locusts. In fact, as high priest of Gorak, I would like to pass along Gorak's approval.
Supreme Court Chief Justice Beverley McLachlin signed the bill, and it was read in the House of Commons and Senate, making it law. The Senate voted late Tuesday to adopt the legislation to legalize gay marriage despite fierce opposition from Conservatives and religious leaders.
The bill grants same-sex couples legal rights equal to those in traditional unions between a man and a woman, something already legal in eight of Canada's 10 provinces and in two of its three territories.
Check back with the Canadians in 10 years. I'd be willing to bet straight people keep on getting married and having kids.
You know what.. go to Toronto and come back and tell me liberalism isn't vastly superior to the insane policies we have here.
It is not a "civil union". It is not "marriage light". It is exactly the same as heterosexual marriage.
Imagine that.. every Canadian has the fundamental right to marry whoever they wish. Good for them.
