Song of the Day

The kids aren't alright.

RED LAKE, Minn. - The boy accused of killing nine people in a shooting spree first shot his grandfather and his companion, then donned the man's police-issue gunbelt and bulletproof vest before heading to the high school, where he shot students and teachers at random, authorities said Tuesday.
A couple of points of interest. Congress won't care about this, and it won't get much mention. Senator Rick "Man on Dog" Santorum won't have any righteous indignation over the story. They won't call a special session of Congress to address the problem. The President will not be cutting short his vacation to sign needed legislation.

There are 10 dead bodies lying in a morgue, (mostly dead kids) but Congress is only interested in keeping alive one brain dead woman in Florida who never wanted to live like that.

In fact, this is an American problem. This wasn't two boys at an upscale white affluent Colorado suburb who embraced the whole "goth" scene. It was an American Indian kid who just snapped. The media is basically ignoring the story, or at best giving it the standard coverage due any morbidly curious story.

I think it'll turn out that he was picked on unmercifully in school. No, that doesn't justify going on a shooting rampage, but it is a common theme in our "win at all costs" culture. We pit student against student. We create huge stresses for those kids that just don't fit in.

We truly live in an immoral culture. It's not because of sex, or gays, or guns, or religion per se. It's because of what American's value most. We value beauty - wealth - power - fame - success. If you do not excel in any of those areas, you will be ignored by the American culture as a whole.

One last thing.. Ever notice how the only missing children that make the mainstream media are young pretty white girls? The black kids only show up on the milk carton. The not-so-pretty kids are throwaways. If you're an adult - no one can be bothered.
