Net Dating Too?

I really don't try and find all this stuff. It's just pops up everywhere. The Republican's and religious freaks going absolutely nuts.

LANSING, Mich. - Sandie Cornillie did a double take when she first heard about a bill that would force online dating sites to say whether criminal background checks have been conducted on their members.
Yep... they want to control your dating habits now too. You're not an adult. You can't judge for yourself if you want to go out with somebody or not.

Republican Sen. Alan Cropsey of DeWitt is sponsoring the bill.

"There are inherent dangers in the whole area of the Internet," he said. "Something needs to be done."
I just love that. Something needs to be done! It's a dangerous world.. something needs to be done! You can't be out there meeting new people, and *GASP* having sex, because we ugly Republican's never seem to get the hot chicks unless we're former Hollywood Actors and so you shouldn't be having any sex either.. Because it's dangerous out there and we know what's best for you!

If I ran an online dating service and that they passed that law, I'd just drop a little tiny "warning no criminal background checks done" in the smallest possible font, in the most unlikely location on the page.

After all - SOMETHING MUST BE DONE!!!!

The legislation is backed by True.com, the only online dating service that performs criminal screening.
How much you want to wager that True.com is a significant campaign contributer to Republican Sen. Alan Cropsey of DeWitt?

** update **

Something must be done about the religious freaks and the Republican party trying to run our lives.
