AG Confirmation

AG

Alberto Gonzales is in the process of being confirmed by Congress to be our next Attorney General. This is the man who described Geneva Conventions prohibitions against torture as "quaint". In fact, he wrote a number of opinions for the White House basically giving them carte blanche to use any means to interrogate prisoners in Iraq. I guess he can't be any worse than John Ashcroft.

The gall that Bush displays in flaunting international laws is breath taking. Then, somehow, a majority of the American public votes for him anyway. Now, I don't expect that the average American would be as up on current events and politics as I am, since I spend a considerable amount of time reading. Still, is it too much to ask people to look at a newspaper every once in a while? I think a lot of people bought that whole story of a "few bad apples". No, this was policy, not an aberration.

One good outcome from the election is that Kerry won't be taking the flak for the mess in Iraq. Bush owns all of this, and it'll be fun to rip on them for the next four years...
