Jesusland

So.. not making that up:

The Israeli government is planning to give up a large slice of land to American Christian evangelicals to build a biblical theme park by the Sea of Galilee where Jesus is said to have walked on water and fed 5,000 with five loaves and two fish.

A consortium of Christian groups, led by the television evangelist Pat Robertson, is in negotiation with the Israeli ministry of tourism and a deal is expected in the coming months. The project is expected to bring up to 1 million extra tourists a year but an undeclared benefit will be the cementing of a political alliance between the Israeli rightwing and the American Christian right.

However, the alliance has not been welcomed by all Israelis, including some who fear the ultimate aim of the evangelicals is the conversion of the Jews to Christianity rather than support for Israel.
Of course, there might be a slight problem with bringing a Jesus theme park to Israel right now. It seems Pat is claiming that God has given Ariel Sharon a massive stroke! Again, so not making that up:

ROBERTSON: I have said last year that Israel was entering into the most dangerous period of its entire existence as a nation. That is intensifying this year with the loss of Sharon. Sharon was personally a very likeable person. I am sad to see him in this condition. But I think we need to look at the Bible and the Book of Joel. The prophet Joel makes it very clear that God has enmity against those who, quote, "divide my land." God considers this land to be his. You read the Bible, he says, "This is my land." And for any prime minister of Israel who decides he going carve it up and give it away, God says, "No. This is mine." And the same thing -- I had a wonderful meeting with Yitzhak Rabin in 1974. He was tragically assassinated, and it was terrible thing that happened, but nevertheless, he was dead. And now Ariel Sharon, who was again a very likeable person, a delightful person to be with. I prayed with him personally. But here he is at the point of death. He was dividing God's land, and I would say woe unto any prime minister of Israel who takes a similar course to appease the EU, the United Nations or United States of America. God said, "This land belongs to me, you better leave it alone."
So.. you know.. Robertson is crazy as fuck, but very powerful people take him seriously, because Robertson has a whole lot of crazy as fuck followers.

I keep saying over and over and over.. what's it going to take for us to decide to stop these crazy Christian fuckers.. You keep thinking they're harmless. They're not.

What is needed right now is a sweeping secular movement. We need to claim the lable "moral" and turn those crazy fucks into.. well.. crazy fucks.

How did the Europeans do it? I'm serious. For the most part, the Euro's see religion as a joke. Whatever they did to get to that point, we need it here desperately.
