Toast

"There's no question in my mind that Obama is a one-term president," says one passionate Democrat. "Even if he were a great president, this economy is a calamity. And in the end, 'It's the economy, stupid.'"

"No one ever had to tell Hillary that," says a disgruntled member of Clinton's 18 million.

Apparently some Democrats are trying to get Hillary to run in a primary versus Obama. That won't happen, of course.

The meme that Obama is "weak" is not the correct one, of course. Obama is actually getting what he wants, and most Democrats think he's simply unable to be "tough". Obama really does want to reduce Medicare and Social Security. He really did want to eliminate vast amounts of federal spending during a recession. He really does want endless wars. He really is a right winger.

Right now, I think Obama has an even chance at re-election, and with the economic conditions getting worse, I think so does his chances. That's why watching the Republican primary is so fun. Normally, somebody like Michelle Bachmann would have no chance at all... but Obama is so bad that what should be a formality will actually be kind of funny to watch.
