Watch What You Burn

Seems there is some bi-partisan support (Harry Reid and Lindsey Graham) to somehow punish the christian whack job that burned the quran, sparking lots of people dying.

I've always wondered if the politicians in Congress are really fucking stupid, or they just pretend to be. It's really hard to imagine how anyone could be concerned with how muslims view the United States because some jackass burned a book, while ignoring the fact that we are killing hundreds of thousands of human beings with our freedom bombs.

It's pretty obvious that anything Congress tries to do about this episode would be illegal, one because you can't pass a law criminalizing something and then prosecute somebody for it after the fact, and because it's just an unconstitutional violation of free speech.

There are laws against "blasphemy" recently passed in some European nations. That's just fucking crazy. Now they're trying to bring it to the US? Fuck that. It's just another attempt to erode our civil liberties.

I think we should kick it up a notch. Qurans and bibles must be cheap to buy, right? How about I buy a bunch of both and organize a party, open to the public, where you can burn a holy book? We'll make a party out of it, start a bon fire, and then people have some fun tossing in either the christian bible or a quran? Think that would make the news? We'd also get religious tombs from other religions to toss on the fire as well. Then we'll video it all, edit it down a bit, add some nice music and upload it on youtube.

I'd come to that party.
