WASHINGTON – House Republicans set up a politically defining clash over the size and priorities of government Tuesday, unveiling a budget plan that calls for both unprecedented spending cuts and a fundamental restructuring of taxpayer-financed health care for the elderly and the poor.
The plan would slash federal spending by $5 trillion or more over the coming decade. It would leave Social Security untouched but shift more of the risk from rising medical costs from the government to Medicare beneficiaries. It also calls for sharp cuts to Medicaid health care for the poor and disabled and to food aid for the poor.
Dubbed the "Path to Prosperity," the proposal by House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan, R-Wis., also calls for dramatically overhauling the complicated and inefficient U.S. tax code. It would scrap numerous tax breaks and loopholes in exchange for reducing the top income tax rate for both individuals and corporations from 35 percent to 25 percent.
The "path to prosperity"? Really? That's incredibly fucking funny.
Americans voted for those assholes.. so why not? I'm never going to be on Medicaid or food stamps.. and we're in the upper income brackets, so we can use the tax breaks on fabulous vacations or cool new stuff for the house.. you know.. whatever. John got his $95,000 car this year, so I think it's my turn to get one. With the tax breaks, I could get a GTR pretty easily. Have you seen that Nissan is planning a big upgrade for the 2012 model year? It's gone from a ridiculous super-car to stupid absurd. How about 0 to 60 in 2.9 seconds? The current car is at best-in-class 3.5 seconds, and shaving over a half second off is just nuts.
Oh.. well.. you know.. Republicans aren't even trying to pretend anymore. They can just do away with Medicare, Social Security and food stamps.. and let's see how desperate old people can get. Do we really give a shit if the children of poor people emulate their counterparts in poor African nations? It's just social Darwinism.. culling the weak. It's not like I have any kids that are going to go hungry.. and maybe we can get a reality teevee show that entertains us by showing us the creative ways that people with no hope survive. It would be fun.
Oh.. I know.. a segment on some guy that used to be on disability, but since that was eliminated and he has no money, and can't work, maybe he'll rob a bank and we can put that on the tv. Timmy robs banks!
The really awesome part is that the Democrats are helping.
"Everyone agrees we must cut spending and tighten our belt, but House Republicans have chosen to do so on the backs of America's seniors, not the oil companies making record profits and getting tens of billions in taxpayer subsidies," said Rep. Steve Israel, D-N.Y
See!! Everyone agrees! The Democrats have caved in spectacular fashion.. the cowards.
The moral of the story is.. Americans, by and large, are really stupid people, with their heads shoved up Jesus' ass, loving the bombing and killing of muslims, and think that somehow "family values" means something in politics. They vote for the Republicans, and now they are going to get well and truly fucked by them - and I think it's pretty funny.
I gave it my best shot at trying to have a sane and sensible government by putting my money behind what I thought was the right policy objectives. Turns out, the Democrats are part of the machine that's going to fundamentally change the way this nation functions. I'm done with that now. I want a 2012 GTR, and maybe a kick-ass new house.
Remember all those people at tea bagging rallies that were so stupid they didn't even know that disability and Medicare are government programs that they will not benefit from? Ya - find a nice park, and some cat food bitches.. and none of that Fancy Feast. You get the dry food.
I do feel bad for any child that grows up in poverty. There's nothing I can do about that. I suppose I could take the $90k the GTR will cost and put some poor kids through college or something.. but hey.. that would just send the wrong message, right? I would be enabling laziness if I help poor people.
What the fuck.. I think I'll change my voter registration to Republican. I want to vote for Sarah Palin in the Republican primary.
....
^ sounds like sarcasm, but I'm serious. If you end up needing any kind of retirement from Social Security or medical benefits when you retire, you are well and truly fucked. Get in the tax bracket that's getting the big breaks. And always.. always.. remember that wealth is relative. The politicians in D.C. are attempting to create a vast underclass and eliminate the middle class. You don't want to work until you die. You have no choice but to make a nice living and save money.. and be really careful what you do with your savings because if there's a chance that somebody can fuck you over for it, they will.
If you're in the privileged class, life will be golden.
....
And as usual.. the comments are the best part;
Answer me this, How is Social Security and the like considered an entitlement program? I paid into these programs for over forty years, that's entitlement as the Republicans call it? How in the heck is something you paid for all your working life considered entitlement? Wake up people, they spent the money you and I put into the program. So instead of being held accountable they change the wording trying to make everyone believe anyone collecting Social Security is a bad guy?
They spent our money and now they want to cover it up and blame the very people whom paid into it over their lifetime! It's a shell game at our expense. Lets wake up to the fact they stole our money just like the Banks and Wall street for their personal gain, plain and simple!
How much you want to bet that person voted Republican?
Of course we've paid into Social Security.. of course we paid into Medicare.. and disability insurance. That's not the point at all. The whole point of this exercise is to destroy anything that can benefit the poor and middle class. It's all about class warfare. The poorer you are, the richer I am.
Eliminating those programs has nothing at all to do with budgets or deficits. It's all about class.
