OBAMA: The President does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation.
...
The War Powers Resolution of 1973 (50 U.S.C. 1541–1548) was a United States Congress joint resolution providing that the President can send U.S. armed forces into action abroad only by authorization of Congress or if the United States is already under attack or serious threat. The War Powers Resolution requires the president to notify Congress within 48 hours of committing armed forces to military action and forbids armed forces from remaining for more than 60 days, with a further 30 day withdrawal period, without an authorization of the use of military force or a declaration of war. The resolution was passed by two-thirds of Congress, overriding a presidential veto.
The Libyan attack is illegal and Obama should be impeached for it.
It's going to be interesting to see how Obama goes from being the President who broke virtually every campaign promise to Candidate Obama again. If I were the campaign manager for his opponent, I'd prominantly use the word "liar" and continually point out the vast list of flip-flops.

It's stunning how often Obama has actually done the opposite of what he promised. The result is that he is becoming unpopular with at least some voters on both sides of the partisan divide.
I'll just leave this here

But don't let reason get in the way of your arguement. By all means carry on.
"which shall be subject to the approval of the Congress by appropriate Act or joint resolution"
Which hasn't happened.
Click the 287d-1 link in that. Read the title.
Nice try.
Oh... and Constitution > UN Charter
Pretty basic.

Letting "reason" get in the way of my argument? As is usually the case, your example of "reason" is bullshit. It's demonstrably false bullshit.
I'm tired of Presidents shitting on the Constitution and not getting Congress to do what is says they are to do.. which is formally declare war. I'm tired of the President ignore the war powers act, which is far more significant than UN charter.
Kucinich explains it pretty simply.. but I guess he, being a Congressman, doesn't understand "reason" either.
And now I'll go from snarking "hysterics" in Japan, to "reason" in warfare. You're almost as fun as Doug.
