Values... Bitches

INDIANAPOLIS – Republicans are scrambling to hold onto Rep. Mark Souder's seat following the evangelical Christian's decision to resign over an extramarital affair with a staffer.

The confession by Souder — an evangelical Christian who promoted abstinence education and was known for his outspoken views on religion — stunned some voters in his district.

"I just think it's a crying shame," said Jean Tarner, who owns the Huntington Street Bar in downtown Syracuse. "He's supposed to be setting the values for the youth. It's just too bad."

And there, in a nutshell (so to speak), is yet another reason why many people in this nation are fucked (metaphorically speaking). People expect a politician to "set the values" for the kids. It's stupid. The parents are stupid. They are breeding stupid kids with fucked up values.

The great sin isn't that this douchebag cheated. It's that he's a lying hypocritical piece of shit, who thinks that "family values" should apply to everyone else, while he's "special" and gets to do what he wants. No doubt he'd have been pointing his finger at Bill Clinton when he was getting hummers from an intern.

The great unspoken truth is that.. people want to have sex.. with a variety of people. People then fall into one of 3 groups. There are people who deny themselves that urge, and spend their entire life only boneing one person. They actually live up to the absurd idea of "Family Values". The second type just does it and tries to make sure nobody else (but the person they are fucking) notice. The third type simply accepts human nature for what it is, and has fun with it (see Chinese people below).

Much of life is really hard. Sometimes it just flat out sucks, and there's not much we can do about it. We can decide whether we compound that suckage by being a serial douchebag like the subject of this particular story.

He's going to have a lot of apologizing to do.. and in the media.. in his community.. with his family... and he did it all to himself by being a stupid liar.

After reading what I wrote there, I completely forget to mention another class of person. There are people who really, honest to Gorak, only want to have sex with one person. If offered a completely guilt and consequence free opportunity to shag somebody else, they'll turn it down. These types are exceedingly rare.. and to have both members of a relationship in this category are about as likely as Sarah Palin knowing what continent Pakistan is on.
