Smell the Hope

Evan Bayh;

Bayh, who is undecided on the opt-out, is now asserting that he sees no difference between a vote to bring that measure to the floor (which requires 60) and a straight up or down vote on it -- a claim that's in perfect harmony with the GOP's songsheet. [...]

This one will really help maintain unity in the Dem caucus. It's one thing, after all, to threaten to block efforts by the majority party -- your own party -- to stage a straight up-or-down majority vote on the bill's substance. It's quite another to claim that the initial procedural vote, which requires 60, is not materially different from a straight up-or-down majority vote on the bill's substance.

How awesome is that? Democratic Senator, Evan Bayh, is not content to merely vote against the bill when it comes to the floor for a pass/fail vote. He has to make sure it never gets voted on.

Every one of those fuckers needs to be booted out the Democratic party. Zero support from the grass roots, but rather support for anyone who runs in a primary against them. If they make it past the primary, vote for the Republican in the general.

What seems odd to me is that it wasn't that long ago that Joe Lieberman was the VP candidate of the party, and Bayh was supposedly in serious consideration for last year's election. They're not Democrats.. they're douche bags..

But don't worry for them.. obviously they are for sale so will make a lot of money no matter what happen.

....

In a related bit.. apparently neither the house bill nor the senate has provisions to pay for medically necessary abortions. Not all abortions are a matter of simple choice. Sometimes they are very necessary, but getting into the whys of it seems silly to me.

It is a legal procedure after all.
