Unsustainable

It's rather surreal to see the various power centers of the United States work. With increased communication between ordinary citizens, there will come a time where it's possible to shut it all down, but it's not now.

Consider the current debate on health care. The Democrats are saying that single-payer is "off the table". The reason is the insurance lobby. We could, in a span of about 2 years, completely destroy the for-profit health insurance industry. Obama knows this. He knows that the federal government already pays more than half the health care costs in this nation and could easily ramp up to pay all of it. The infrastructure is there. It's very do-able.

It won't happen.

What I'm hoping will happen is that Obama will push the bill so that it gives everyone the option to opt-in to Medicare at a very low cost, so that it will make sense for people like me to do that. I work for a very large tech company, and we get shit for a health plan, and it costs a lot. Literally.. it's a huge piece of shit. I went and saw an ENT last month, and it cost me $143.

Over time, employers may gives a bonus to employees to purchase their own Medicare plan, and slowly but surely, the private for-profit insurance companies go out of business.

So.. defense...

Eisenhower wasn't kidding when he warned people about the "military industrial complex". They are, by far, the biggest soakers of American citizens.. and occasional wars are launched (Vietnam, Iraq) in order to beef up the spending.

The cold war ended, and so we need a new eternal war.. and we get.. the Islamists.. which the Islamic preachers are quite happy to go along with, as the war feeds them as well. The hard-core Christian freaks in America will not tolerate any cuts in defense spending because they want the "big war". They want a glorious and massive battle to usher in the return of Jesus.

Anyone who advocates for sensible defense spending.. say.. just twice as much as the rest of the world.. well, they're just "weak".. right?

Consider what this is doing to our nation.. consider the damage.. the horror.. the bloodshed.. the death.

I'm not fucking kidding. That's what's going on. It's a bloodbath to feed the machine, and we spend our days wondering what Nancy Pelosi knew about and when.

Fuck that. We have to destroy these mother fuckers and take back our planet. They'll never stop lying to everyone.. and launching bullshit wars that kill millions of people unless we finally wake up and put a stop to it.
