DUBLIN – A fiercely debated, nine-year investigation into Ireland's Roman Catholic-run institutions says priests and nuns terrorized thousands of boys and girls in workhouse-style schools for decades — and government inspectors failed to stop the chronic beatings, rapes and humiliation.
High Court Justice Sean Ryan on Wednesday unveiled the 2,600-page final report of Ireland's Commission to Inquire Into Child Abuse, which is based on testimony from thousands of former students and officials from more than 250 church-run institutions.
More than 30,000 children deemed to be petty thieves, truants or from dysfunctional families — a category that often included unmarried mothers — were sent to Ireland's austere network of industrial schools, reformatories, orphanages and hostels from the 1930s until the last church-run facilities shut in the 1990s.
The report found that molestation and rape were "endemic" in boys' facilities, chiefly run by the Christian Brothers order, and supervisors pursued policies that increased the danger. Girls supervised by orders of nuns, chiefly the Sisters of Mercy, suffered much less sexual abuse but frequent assaults and humiliation designed to make them feel worthless.
"In some schools a high level of ritualized beating was routine. ... Girls were struck with implements designed to maximize pain and were struck on all parts of the body," the report said. "Personal and family denigration was widespread."
This is simply how the institutionalized Catholic church operates. They've a long history of bloody violence, including the torturing of children.. not for decades, but for centuries at a time.
Then they want to make that piece of shit John Paul a "saint"? Apparently the qualifications for sainthood are based on the body count of human beings you're presided over.
The best thing that could happen is the church dissolved, and all it's assets used to aid children.. not beat and rape them in cathedrals of torture throughout the world.
Then you take those assholes.. and you do to them what we do to child rapists.. and you shame every sheep who never thought about what was going on in the church they claimed they belonged to, and gave money to.
I remember when my mother was dying.. My sister brought in a Catholic priest to say a "prayer". It was all so innocent.. a beautiful ritual that we like to think is represented by all the pomp and circumstance of Catholic regalia.. the meaningless crucifixes.. the meaningless books and whatever the fuck that thing is called they wear around their necks... The last rites, as if anything some evil mother fucker could say near the end of a persons life could mean anything.
It's all so much showmanship, to distract the sheep from the evil that goes on out of sight... that's been going on for centuries, but somehow we're told that it's just a few "bad apples", rather than a systemic abuse system.
Totalitarian regimes come and go.. they murder their millions until somebody puts a stop to them in a war. The Catholic church has the biggest body count of them all, because they wrap themselves up in Jesus and cleverly avoid the wars that would destroy them.
"The management did not listen to or believe children when they complained of the activities of some of the men who had responsibility for their care," the commission found. "At best, the abusers were moved, but nothing was done about the harm done to the child. At worst, the child was blamed and seen as corrupted by the sexual activity, and was punished severely."
Nice.. they blamed the kids and punished them.. for.. looking so attractive to the priest that the holy man was compelled to rape him.
It wasn't the priests fault, you know. He was just doing what comes naturally to a Catholic priest. It was the devil in the little boys that made them do it...
and they beat the evil out of the child after he forced the priest to rape him.

Perhaps we should bring back

The world would take Catholicism a lot less seriously.
