English Anger

Young English guys are upset.. and they're venting during the G20.

My family is of Irish decent.. but English before that.. as part of a family tribe of conquering English that invaded Ireland and settled. I've got that same auburn hair and fair skin..

I've spent some time (not enough) in England and parts of Europe.. and the thing that strikes me is that their culture is old.. very very old.. and everything there is old or built on top of old. It's very different than America. They have a very long history, to say the least, and ours dates back a few, paltry, hundred years.

It's also worth remembering that out of all the "first world" industrialized, democratized, countries.. the United States is the most conservative of them all. Every other nation, from Canada, to France, England, Germany, Spain, etc., is far more Liberal than the US.

When the Loon Brigade gets fed up with the US, where will they go?

....

Depending on how much money John can make before retirement.. I'd really like a London residence for the summer. There's just so much more sensory excitement than living here.

He's off to California for a week, visiting clients and attending professional trade conventions.. He's going to raise the pimp hand and drum up more bidness. YaY

I've gone on biz trips with him before.. without giving too much info.. ugh. I'm staying home and baby sitting dogs.

....

Speaking of dogs.. we're trying to do some research on a new dog. I'm a bit allergic so we're looking at something hypo-allergenic. If anybody has some first hand experience.. do share.

Afaik there are two main types of pet allergies; those allergic to the fur as well as those allergic to the saliva. The latter is often confused with a fur allergy because animals groom themselves then you touch them.
If it's the fur for you, there's a lot of breeds now that actually have a coat of wool. I don't know how it works, but it basically looks the same but the fibres are different and unless you have an aversion to sheep you'll be ok.
For big dogs there's stuff like the 'labradoodle'. Which is labrador cross poodle. Very smart. And they use them as seeing eye dogs where the blind person is allergic. There's smaller dogs with wool too. That's really the key to anti allergic dogs. You can probly google wool coat dog breeds and away you go.
On a tangent, I don't know why with all the wonderful cities in Europe you'd pick the biggest dirtiest metropolis for your summer house. Come on... I mean Prague? Tuscany? Rotterdam? None of which are more than a day from london on the Eurostar.

Labroadoodle is a definate possibility. We have a friend who got a puppy a while back and the training seems a bit difficult.

There seems to be a dizzying array of cross bred dogs that are supposedly hypo-allergenic. John has mentioned narrowing down a list of types and seeing if we can foster to see how it goes.. sort of a try it before buying it deal.

I've never been to Prague, Tuscany or Rotterdam. I just really like London.. but thinking about it, I also like Vienna a lot. The idea is that we can go to the clubs and cultural events in London without too much travelling hassle.

We also like Toronto a lot.. a whole lot. It's a terrific city, and it would be closer.. but I think if we can afford it, a small summer place in Europe would be awesome... with a guest room so we can invite friends up and such... would be fun.
