Psycho Thieves

VISTA, Calif. – A former bookkeeper embezzled $9.9 million, forcing her company to make layoffs as she bought 400 pairs of shoes that she kept in a room-sized closet decorated with a crystal chandelier and a plasma television, authorities claim.

Annette Yeomans, 51, surrendered at the Vista jail on Friday and was booked for investigation of grand theft and embezzlement. She was being held Saturday at the San Diego County jail in lieu of $10 million bail.

Authorities allege that Yeomans embezzled the money from 2001 to 2007 while she was chief financial officer for Quality Woodworks, Inc., a cabinetry business in San Marcos.

She spent at least $240,000 on 400 pairs of shoes, $300,000 on designer clothing and 160 purses valued at $2,000 each, investigators allege. She also remodeled a bedroom into a closet with the chandelier and a 32-inch TV, they said.

John's appraisal company had an office manager that embezzled $75k from the company. She spent all the money buying dolls off Ebay. She had an entire house full of them... a virtual army of glassy eyed porcelain dolls..

After she was fired, she filed for unemployment benefits.. lol

I guess the moral of the story is.. there is such a thing as theft.. and then there is scary crazy theft by psychologically unbalanced people.

I must admit that I did steal some quarters from my father's coin jar in order to feed the video games at the arcade. I must have been about 12 or 13.. something like that. I'd imagine a lot of you are too young to have had the privilege of spending summer afternoons in the arcade. It was truly the golden age of gaming. I even had a friend who could play Defender past a million points, where it would give you a bunch of ships and stop awarding new ones.. He was a god...

Speaking of coin jars.. I've been tossing spare coins into a jar(s) every day for the last 8 years or so. There is a lot there, and I don't want to dump them into one of those machines that takes a 10% cut, and I don't want to go through the hassle of rolling them and trying to deposit them.. so the pile grows larger.

Holy crap..

Trivia
This game shares the title of "Highest Grossing Video Game of All Time" along with Pac-Man. To date it has earned more than one billion dollars!

haha perhaps we aren't so different you and i - i can't stand having coins in my wallet. every evening i ritually turf them onto my computer desk as i put down my phone and keys etc. then once in a while when i can't move my mouse or keyboard around i sweep them into a fabric bag. probly a few thousand dollars. the banks don't sound like such assholes here about counting them for me with a machine and depositing it. the problem is more that i can't lift it all at once. lol.

That's a good idea.. I should check to see if the bank has a machine I could just dump it all into.
