Oooh Ahhhh
The Dirty uploaded new pictures of the house I referenced last week. We went back and looked again last weekend. She also dropped the price 100k. The media room looks really nice, and it is.. but still no pics of the master bath, which is also nice.
The problem with the house is the lack of a sizable lawn in the backyard for dogs.. and the neighborhood is somewhat depressed. There's quite a few for-sale signs and empty lots which might make it a bit risky to buy in terms of the long term survivability of the neighborhood and home values. The house was completed 2 years ago, and still has not been lived in. The home builder still owns it.
The design of the house itself is about as perfect as we've seen in a two story house. I don't think John is going to go for it... even though I can see myself sipping martinis on the lounge watching movies..
...
John just called me while I was writing this.. he's going to ask the other agent if the owner would consider 300k less than asking.. Kind of doubtful, but then again, it's been sitting for 2 years and they're paying interest on the builder loan.. which costs them money every day it's unsold... plus the market is on the downturn.. Would be funny if they agreed.
/update
This is actually pretty good for us. Dallas has been quite steady, and while I think there may be slight value declines over the duration of the recession, it's worth nothing that these values are an aggregate. Some of the suburbs are harder hit than others, especially with some entire subdivisions being built by fraud, with resulting plummeting prices.
When the recession ends, and the housing market settles a bit, I think we'll see some nice value increases. Other cities, not so hot.
