Stimulating

Pat Buchanan is simply gushing about Obama's announcements this morning, concerning his stimulus plans. He just said "was that Barack Obama, or Ronald Reagan?"

Obama announced the creation of RECOVERY.gov, and not 2 seconds after he announced it, I was on it and it was already being hammered by traffic.

The web site will contain all the details of the plan.. a new level of transparency, where anyone can see exactly where the money is going. Obama continues to do what he said he was going to do.

It's interesting to note that Obama was surrounded by business leaders during his announcement this morning. The Republicans are on my teevee saying they're going to oppose the bill. This is a good thing. The Democratic leadership obviously should paint them as anti-business obstructionists, bent on the destruction of the American economy for partisan reasons.

Meanwhile.. saner Conservatives are going to have to decide which side of history they are going to be on. While Pat Buchanan is not necessarily sane.. he's something of a litmus test..

I think it's rather remarkable how in command Obama seems. It's weird to see a bunch of old white guys deferring to the young black guy. It's all in the body language and presentation, and Obama is controlling it all.

....

One of the "pork" proposals in the stimulus bill is $200 million (I think that's the number, going from memory) to refurbish the national mall. This is where the inauguration was held, and is a very visible symbol of American government.

I find it rather odd that the Republicans are upset about keeping our national government squares in top notch condition. This is symbolic of America, and absolutely must be in the best shape. It's like having a party at your house when it's a complete mess.. it gives a bad impression.

Besides.. who the fuck do those Republicans think are going to do the work? Business.. which employs people. That's what this bill is all about.

It's disgusting how these Republicans are behaving. I suppose they'd like the Capital building to fall into disrepair also. That would reflect just awesome on the American people.

From a purely movement point of view.. I'm glad to see the Republicans doing this. I like seeing them in the minority, and I'd like to see it for a long time.
