Quote of the Day

Digby

Just as they treated Bush with extraordinary respect in reaction to their heinous behavior during the Clinton years, the villagers are now preparing to treat Obama with skepticism in reaction to the failures that resulted from their fawning obsequiousness.

Oddly, these lurches always seem to disfavor the Democrats.

A lot of us were predicting that way back. Clinton gets a blow job, lies about it in a deposition, and he's impeached with obsessing journalistic approval. Bush lies us into wars, violates international treaties, tortures, rendition, and wire taps Americans without warrants.. and the press gushes over what a strong leader he is.

I watched Robert Gibbs first press conference a few days ago. The press was grilling him.. upset that they were not allowed to attend the 2nd swearing in. They accused the Administration of trying to hide it from the public, of trying to hide something from them.

Despite.. you know.. the administration inviting a few pool reporters to watch, recording and releasing the sound, along with the photograph.

The press was incensed that they were not allowed in.. despite the limitations on the size of the room.

These are, after all, intrepid reporters.. the ones that Steven Colbert talked about during the White House press dinner in 2006.

There's two reasons for the change in attitude. The press feels as though they need to vindicate themselves in the eyes of the American public for their failures of the last 8 years. Now, they will root out all the corruption.. every misstep.. every appearance of impropriety.

The other, of course, is that they're not afraid of the Democrats. They're not afraid of "losing access".

I really really despise the traditional media. Fuck Chris Matthews.. Fuck David Gregory.. Fuck Wolf Blitzer. Fuck Fox "News".

They're all scumbags.

...

Meanwhile.. our Prez just keeps kicking asses every day.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama on Friday quietly ended the Bush administration's ban on giving federal money to international groups that perform abortions or provide information on the option.
